Lanolin is similar in composition to human sebum. It makes a most effective and protective moisturizer since it's also a humectant that helps the skin cells retain water.
Product description
Lanolin is a naturally occurring wax, excreted from the glands of sheep. This wax helps repel water from their coats. When sheep are sheared, their wool is run through rollers to extract the lanolin. Normally, 100 pounds of wool or fleece from sheep produce merely two to four pounds of lanolin.
It has been used by humans for thousands of years! There are records of the Egyptians melting it in the sun and applying it to their skin.
Lanolin is a much better alternative to petroleum jelly or vegetable glycerin since it's emollient effects last for an extremely long time.
Farm Apothecary lanolin is USP grade (United States Pharmacopeia) approved for use in food, and medicine.
It is possible to have an allergy to lanolin. If you suspect this may be the case, please try a patch test first.
How to use: Apply a small amount for relief of dry, cracked skin on hands, cuticles, feet or nursing nipples. May also help to soothe psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis and other skin conditions.
